Accounting Experience
Small business owners rarely start their business because they love bookkeeping. They start because they're good at building things, serving customers, solving problems. The financial side becomes something to deal with later.
SRC Bookkeeping & Tax was founded to help those businesses stay current on their books without pulling time away from the work that matters. We serve small businesses across The Woodlands and the Greater Houston area. Contractors, retailers, restaurants, manufacturers, farms, nonprofits. The businesses that keep their communities running.
The owner’s background gives the firm both practical and professional depth. Early experience in a family business taught him what bookkeeping feels like from the business owner’s side, when the books have to be handled alongside everything else. His later work in banking, auditing, and nonprofit accounting gave him the structure and discipline to do the work correctly.
That combination shapes how we work with every client. We understand what it's like to run a business and we know what clean books are supposed to look like. The goal is to give you financial records you can trust and dependable support when you need it.
Meet Shane Christenson
I grew up in a farming family in Iowa. Like most family businesses, everyone pitched in wherever they were needed. For me, that often meant bookkeeping. Recording transactions, reconciling bank accounts, keeping track of payroll and sales. I learned early that the financial side of a business needs attention even when everything else demands your time.
I earned a degree in Accounting and Finance from Iowa State University. My career started at U.S. Bank in credit review, analyzing commercial borrowers' financial statements and loan portfolios. That experience taught me what lenders look for and how financial records need to be structured.
From there I moved into public accounting at Eide Bailly, working on audits and financial statement preparation. Then I served as a staff accountant for a nonprofit in Iowa, handling monthly reporting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, 1099 filings, and audit coordination.
I started SRC Bookkeeping & Tax because I wanted to work directly with small business owners. The kind of businesses I grew up around. Contractors, shops, restaurants, farms. The businesses that matter to their communities. I know what reliable financial records can do for a business, and I want to bring that to business owners here in the Houston area.
